In 1984 Michel Chataigne began his fashion career at 19 years old in Port au Prince, Haiti. He also graduated from several Universities in International Relations in North America. While he worked hard to hone his skills, he participated in numerous school Seminars such as: Edith Serie de Montréal (AS in Cosmetology), Dudley University in North Carolina (MS and PH. D. in Cosmetology) and Hair Club International de Paris just to name a few.
Michel CHATAIGNE is among the best known Haitian hair designers. For 33 years, his beauty salon has attracted the most demanding women. They know that his products are mostly organic. He also launched his own brand, a cosmetology school (Institute Michel Hair Design – 1998), his own modeling agency (Fashion & Design in 1999) and his own fashion line including cloths, handbags, shoes, sandals and accessories. Many of his former students are now well known hair designers and make-up artists.
A proud native, He has made his mark at the seminar of the cosmetic line Sebastian International as he intervened. Michel is forever perfecting his craft. He holds a certificate in staging from Performa of Paris (1995). Since the creation of his Institute, each year he puts together a highlight professional show which includes (dance, theater and Fashion). You might say he has the profession in his soul. The designer for designers he works any material until it’s perfect. His clothes fit you exactly how you expect them too, as they are made to measure.
Consultant in “savoir faire” and personal development and protocol, he has done the carnival in Haiti for more than 25 years. He has also conducted Miss Haiti Contest in New York and Haiti, as well as Miss Soft and Beautiful during more than five (5) years (1999- 2003). From 2003 to date, he participated in several fashion weeks International (London, Italy, Jamaica, Florida, Bahamas, Martinique, etc.). Michel CHATAIGNE is the beauty advisor of the Group Deka, official representative of ‘Soft’n free’ a prestigious South African company. He participated in the launch of the mobile phones of Uni Gestion Holding SA (Digicel) in Haiti and the Turk and Caicos.
Michel CHATAIGNE is an influential member of the Association of Haitian designers (HAND). He has received abundant recognition within the fashion industry: Best Student à Dudley University (1996), Digicel’s Entrepreneur (2011), and Haitian Fashion Channels in Florida (2011).
