Queen Clara

In 2010, Clara Philor was crown Miss Haiti International, a title she held proudly as she’s always been a devoted ambassador of her country of origin. Prior to this title, Clara was a professional model. She started her modeling journey in Canada at the age of 5. Pageantry was always something Clara admired but never planned on being a part of. She was, however, encouraged to sign up to compete in the Miss Haiti International pageant and she went for it. The journey to becoming Miss Haiti International was quite competitive which fueled Clara’s desire to win, and she did!

After being crowned Miss Haiti International, Clara graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Marketing. She organized and participated in several public events. While pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree in project management, she got more involved in the community and co-founded a 501c3 nonprofit organization, ECLAT Haiti. Clara’s platform during her reign as Miss Haiti international focused on not only education, but especially showing the beauty of Haiti and its rich history. After her reign she kept her platform and continued to share positivity and educate as much as she can. Through her multiple travels to Haiti, whether for work or pleasure, Clara made sure to focus and share the positive aspect of her country but not ignoring all the work still left to be done. Clara, through ECLAT Haiti, was involved in reforestation efforts in Haiti and back to school drives for less fortunate students in rural Haiti.

Currently, Clara is finishing her Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Through her research she aims to shed light on distinct workplace discriminations and contribute to social change. She is also working on future projects benefiting her beloved Haiti all while using her social medial platforms to spread positivity and happiness. The journey with the crown was not without its challenges. More support could have gone a long way. Clara nonetheless is grateful for the additional platform she earned by becoming Miss Haiti International. She vows to continue to spread her light and be a source of positive vibes.
